About:

As a consummate performance guitarist, Sam’s instincts and versatility extend beyond his mind-bending shred solos. He is capable of creating atmospheric textures, complex lyrical compositions, and beautifully haunting melody lines. He has an innate sense of what a song or performance needs, and the clean technical ability to execute with precision - both live and in the studio.

Sam has a diverse musical background, having played in a variety of genres including psychedelic folk-pop (Cura Cura), indie pop rock (The Nice Ones), contemporary jazz fusion (Ian Giles Trio), and progressive electronic metal (Ross Jenssen). His influences are too numerous to count, and he never met a genre he didn’t like.

Having studied guitar performance and composition at Berklee College of Music, he is immersed in extensive knowledge of harmony and music theory. Other significant skills include music production, orchestration, scoring for short films, and recreating complex transcriptions.

Sam is also a multi-instrumentalist and singer. He has lifelong expertise on electric guitar, yet is also a highly accomplished vocalist with a 5 octave range and a powerful, textured tenor.

Instrumentally, he can pull off anything from mellow folk acoustics all the way to electronic soundscapes, jazzy delights, and driving heavy metal. His productions are often a blend of styles and complex layers of feeling.

Sam is always on the lookout for a new project, collaboration, or experience. If you are interested in studio work or a jam to workshop your project, give a shout here!

“Sam’s laid back, positive, and upbeat – until he steps on stage. Then he transforms into this total shredlord and you get to wonder how so much raw intensity can come from such a goofy dude.”
